Werner Burger believes the understanding he has with manager Csaba Laszlo will provide a “base” on which to build success.
The new Dundee United first-team coach is a long-time friend and colleague of the Tannadice gaffer, having worked under Laszlo at Hearts from 2008 to 2011.
As well as his spell at Tynecastle, Burger was the Hungarian’s number two at MTK Budapest and Slovak outfit DAC Dunajská Streda.
The long-anticipated appointment will also see the German team up with Laurie Ellis, who remains the Tangerines’ assistant manager.
Werner said: “Csaba and I have very similar ideas about football and I think you need that as a base to develop a team that is capable of meeting your targets.”
Laszlo added: “I am very pleased Werner has turned down other options in Germany to link up with me here.
“I feel that, together with Laurie, Craig (Easton) and Scott (Robertson), we now have a very strong backroom team to foster the right mentality and team spirit in the squad.”
