Dundee United’s new central defender Rachid Bouhenna has declared himself ready to make a rapid-fire debut.
The Tangerines head to Alloa today and the Algerian will be in manager Csaba Laszlo’s squad after signing a two-year-deal with the Tangerines yesterday.
The 27-year-old has joined United from MC Alger in the north African nation on a two-year deal.
French-born Bouhenna has already had a spell in the United Kingdom with Doncaster Rovers in England and also played for Compeigne in France before moving to Algeria. He has represented his country at under-23 level.
The player has trained with his new clubmates and he feels he is match-sharp.
Bouhenna said: “I am very happy to be signing for this big club.
“I hope to start quickly with the team.
“My agent was in touch with Dundee United and when I was told I said that it was OK – I wanted to join.
“I want to play a lot of games and do my duty for the club to get us up to the top league.
“I work to give my best on the pitch and if I am here it is because I have quality. I will give the maximum for the team.
“I have to speak to the manger but it’s not a problem – I am ready to play.
“I am very excited. My feeling is that this club is like a family do my feeling about it is very good.
“I am pleased to join Dundee United and show my ability in Scottish football.
“I cannot wait to get out on the park for United.”
Laszlo will be the one who decides whether or not to throw Bouhenna in against the Wasps.
The manager said: “Rachid is a player we have followed for quite a while and I am delighted to bring him into the squad and add to our defensive strength.”
On his way out of Tannadice on loan was central defender Scott Allardice, who has joined League One side Dumbarton until January.
