Pavol Safranko has revealed he is already a third of the way towards his goal target for this season after scoring again for Dundee United.
The Slovakian striker headed an excellent opener for the Tangerines in what was new boss Robbie Neilson’s home debut in the United dugout.
However, they couldn’t hold on against Inverness Caley Thistle and had to make do with a 1-1 draw in the Championship clash at Tannadice on Saturday.
Safranko’s 55th-minute goal was the fifth of the season from a player who has quickly become a fans’ favourite.
He said: “I have set a target.
“I will be happy when I score around 15 goals this season.
“Maybe that is not a big target but I don’t want to be just a striker who scores goals because I do other things on the pitch.
“I am a team player and also help out in defence.
“I have good teammates who do a good job for me so we will see how many I can score in the end.”
Despite being delighted about hitting the target again, Safranko would have swapped his goal for a win.
He said: “I can say that I would happily exchange my goal for the three points.
“Getting wins at home is very important for us and we didn’t manage to achieve that.
“I suppose 1-1 is not too bad and I think that we played some good football.
“It is nice to hear people say that it was a good performance from us even though we didn’t win because I felt that we were better than before.
“We were more offensive and aggressive.
“I hope the fans enjoyed our football despite the fact we failed to score more than one goal.
“That was the best I have heard the supporters this season and I will give 100% to try to get more victories for them.”
