Robbie Neilson will challenge any disciplinary action that could result from his touchline dismissal at Cappielow on Saturday.
On a frustrating afternoon in Greenock for the Dundee United manager, he was ordered to the stand a few minutes after his team had conceded an equaliser to Morton.
Referee David Munro accused Neilson of shouting at him but the Tannadice boss insisted he was actually trying to get the attention of a member of his own team.
“I shouted on to the park to one of the players,” he said. “I was quite vocal to him because I was very disappointed in something.
“The referee was 60 yards away and the linesman was 40 yards away. It’s quite funny – I’ve got players who can’t hear me when they’re 15 yards away!
“The linesman said I directed it at the referee.
“I think the game ran away from the referee a wee bit.
“I’ve asked him a few questions which he won’t answer and he’s going to put it in his report. I’ll wait and see.
“If you get sent to the stand every time you shout something on to the pitch there won’t be anybody left.
“I’ll definitely fight it. It shouldn’t have happened.”
