Five new signings get off to a winning start with Dundee United – we rate their performances

Peter Pawlett.
Peter Pawlett.

Robbie Neilson gave debuts to five of his January signings in the win against Morton. Courier Sport looks at how they performed.

Calum Butcher

Morton’s Dylan Dykes (L) battles with Dundee United’s Calum Butcher.

Making his second debut for United, he added much-needed dig in midfield and provided the assist for the opening goal.

Mark Reynolds

It was an assured performance at the back with the on-loan Aberdeen centre-half playing for the first time since May, last year.

Mark Connolly

Dundee United’s new signing Mark Connolly at full-time.

The former St Johnstone and Kilmarnock defender had little to do in defence but was a danger at set-pieces in attack.

Peter Pawlett

Dundee United’s Peter Pawlett celebrates his goal.

The former Aberdeen winger was a constant threat and took his goal well. All in all, it was a great debut for the Tangerines.

Osman Sow

Morton’s Dylan Dykes battles with Dundee United’s Osman Sow.

The ex-Hearts striker came on with just 16 minutes remaining and had a half chance shortly after but could not take it. Big things will be expected in the weeks to come.
