Dundee United WFC’s Neve Guthrie has been named the Scottish Building Society SWPL Player of the Month for May.
The 16-year-old striker saw off Amy Muir (Rangers), Clare Docherty (FC Kilmarnock), and Jamie-Lee Napier (Hibernian) in the public vote.
She is the first ever United player to win the award, getting over 50% of the vote, with more than 2,600 cast in total.
Guthrie, who has played in all of United’s matches this season, has helped establish her side in SWPL2, after their promotion last season.
She scored the only goal in an away win over top-of-the-table Hearts.
She said: “I’m shocked but delighted to have won this award. Given the quality of the nominees I was not expecting to win but it’s a very pleasant surprise.”
