Dundee United have appointed Gary Dempsey as their new head of sports science.
Dempsey comes from a rugby background, having enjoyed a career at Glasgow Warriors, the Scottish Rugby Union, Bradford Bulls rugby league side, England’s international team and the English Institute of Sport.
He said: “I am excited to become part of the Dundee United family.
“I have taken on this role because I was impressed with the facilities at our disposal and the future vision for the club.
“I hope to play my part in helping United develop players and secure success.”
Tannadice sporting director Tony Asghar added: “I see bringing Gary to Dundee United as a real coup.
“His experience at such high-profile and high-performance outfits will be invaluable in improving our sports science analysis, and I also look forward to him implementing what may well be new ideas for football that he has picked up in other sports.
“Gary’s appointment improves our coaching and support staff set-up as we gear up for the start of the season as we look to take on our championship challenge and I am delighted to have brought him to Dundee United.”
