In an exclusive interview, Dundee United owner Mark Ogren has revealed his hopes and expectations for the new league season.
The American businessman, who is in Scotland to attend the club’s opening Championship match against Inverness Caley Thistle at Tannadice tomorrow, vowed to keep investing in the Tangerines in order to return to the Premiership.
He talked candidly of the harsh financial reality of life outwith the top flight and stated his firm belief that United will make it back up.
Ogren chatted about how happy he is with those who have been running the club while he has been at home in the United States and talked warmly about new friends he made at the recent concert by Sir Tom Jones in the city’s Slessor Gardens.
The American joined our writer Ian Roache for a visit to V&A Dundee then had a chat over a coffee.
Mr Ogren said: “Our hope last season was to go up but our expectation this season is to go up.
“We want to avoid the play-off formula because it just hasn’t worked for us over the last three years now.”
