Dundee United striker Lawrence Shankland’s sensational start to the season has earned him a Scotland call-up, it is understood.
Shankland has scored 13 times in just seven Championship games for the Tangerines this season and managed 15 in all competitions since joining from Ayr United in the summer.
Scots manager Steve Clarke is announcing his squad selection at noon today and the word from Hampden is that the Tannadice goal machine’s name is on his list for the forthcoming games against Russia and San Marino.
Shankland becomes the first second-tier player to be called up for Scotland since John McGinn in 2017. He was at Hibs at the time.
