Playing the name game with his teammates helped new Raith Rovers keeper Conor Brennan feel at home.
The 22-year-old Northern Irishman’s deal was only formalised on the morning of Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Dundee United at Tannadice.
He had, however, spent a couple of days training with the Stark’s Park squad.
That still wasn’t enough to fully familiarise himself, though, and he was forced to put names to faces before kick-off, as revealed by Rovers defender Kyle Benedictus.
Benedictus said: “Conor came in on Thursday and trained with us but he still doesn’t really know the boys.
“In fact, he was asking me before the game what my name was.
“I mean, I had only known him for two days.
“Nevertheless, he did well in the game and I thought he handled the occasion well.
“He is still young and has a long future in the game.
“It is now up to him to keep his place because Kevin Cuthbert and Aaron Lennox are injured.”
Benedictus and his mates – old and new – were well pleased with their comeback draw on Saturday after United had raced into a 2-0 lead.
He said: “It’s good to come from two goals down.
“They came out flying so it shocked the boys a bit but I thought we battled well and for 65 minutes we were the better team.
“It maybe puts a wee marker down.
“I don’t think people should write us off yet.
“It’s going to give us confidence.
“The other three games we have won comfortably and this one was about battling.”
