Raith Rovers are to send skipper Jason Thomson for shockwave therapy in a bid to accelerate his recovery from a knee problem.
The influential defender is suffering from tendinopathy, an inflammation of the tendon below the knee.
The 29-year-old has not played for the Kirkcaldy side since September 10 in the 2-0 home defeat to Falkirk.
He is set to spend several more weeks on the touchlines as although the condition does not require surgery, rest is the prescribed cure.
However, Raith boss Gary Locke is understandably keen to have the key player back sooner rather than later, and the club have decided to send Thomson for the relatively-new shockwave treatment which has proved successful with athletes in a bid to help his progress.
Locke moved last month to bring in full-back Liam Smith from his former club Hearts as cover for Thomson however the Jambos player suffered a hamstring injury against Morton last weekend and had to come off after 67 minutes.
It remains to be seen whether he will have recovered from the problem in time for next Saturday’s game at Stark’s Park when Rovers will face second-top Hibs.
