Montrose boss Stewart Petrie has bolstered his squad with the addition of a new “old boy” in the shape of midfielder Lewis Milne.
The 24-year-old was a key member of the Gable Endies’ League 2 title-winning side, netting 11 goals in 16 appearances last season after joining the club in January from Forfar.
There was an understanding between Montrose and player that if a full-time club came calling, they would not stand in his way with Raith Rovers making a move in the summer to take Milne to Stark’s Park.
However, he has struggled for game time since going to Kirkcaldy, making just five starts in this campaign.
Now, he has returned to Links Park on an 18-month deal with Petrie saying: “We are delighted to have got this deal over the line.
“Lewis brings pace in forward areas, creativity in midfield and is a constant danger from his dead-ball delivery.”
Milne will go straight into the squad for Montrose’s League 1 match at Dumbarton on Saturday.
