St Johnstone striker Callum Hendry has signed a new contract through to the summer of 2022.
Manager Tommy Wright said: “It is something we have been working on for a while.
“Callum has done well and deserves his new deal.
“When you are running into the last few months of a contract it can be worrying but he was told a while back it would be sorted out.
“He can now concentrate on playing and getting more regular starts.
“Callum (Davidson) knew of him from his Blackburn connections. He had been held back by injury. He is a young player who has had to deal with a lot in his life, on and off the field, so he is a strong character.
“The injuries have lessened and he is in a good place. This should give him the confidence to kick on.
“He has always made an impact when he has come on from the bench, scoring or setting up a goal.
“We won’t use him just in that role. With three strikers I will mix and match between now and the end of the season.”
Hendry, whose goals off the bench have been a big part of Saints’ revival, said: “I’m really enjoying my football at the moment and I’m excited about my future at the club.
“Since I’ve moved up here I’ve settled well and I’ve made a life for myself in Perth now. I’m delighted to have committed my future here for another two-and-a-half-years.
“Hopefully now I can get myself a run of games and try to nail down my starting place. I want to be the first name on the manager’s team-sheet and obviously I want to score plenty of goals!”
