St Johnstone got their traditional day one away game when the 2020/21 fixture list came out – but at least on this occasion it will be a short trip to play Dundee United.
Callum Davidson’s first match in charge will be a Tayside derby at Tannadice on August 1.
The United clash is, of course, subject to government approval and the Tangerines’ promotion from the Championship not being over-turned.
The match will be Saints’ ninth away from home in the last 11 seasons on the first day of a season.
Last year they were hammered by champions Celtic.
A week later, August 8, Saints will welcome Aberdeen to McDiarmid Park.
That is followed by a midweek trip to Ibrox to face Rangers on Wednesday, August 12.
It could certainly be an advantage for Saints to be facing Steven Gerrard’s side in an empty stadium.
The festive fixtures for Davidson’s men will see Rangers visit McDiarmid on Wednesday, December 23 before a Boxing Day trip to Pittodrie.
The January 2 match is certainly no derby. Saints will travel to Dingwall to play Ross County that weekend.
The last game of the regular season before the split is with a trip to Fir Park against Motherwell on April 3.
