St Johnstone boss targets five out of five

St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright is aiming for an incredible 100% post-split Premiership record.

His team won their fourth top six match out of four against Celtic last night.

After Leigh Griffiths gave the champions the lead, Steven MacLean and Graham Cummins responded to clinch a 2-1 victory that backs up those against Aberdeen, Ross County and Motherwell.

Now only Hearts on Sunday stand between Saints and a historic clean-sweep.

“It would be a fantastic achievement,” Wright admitted. “If we play the way we have been then there’s every opportunity we can make it five out of five.

“There’s only one to go.

“It’s a great run of form. We wanted to kick on after making the top six and we’ve done that the last few seasons.

“I’m delighted with the manner of the four wins, particularly against Celtic tonight. And there have been two good away wins as well.

“We try and plan for a full season with rest and recovery when the players need it. They aren’t tired mentally or physically.

“They’ve got one more game then they’ll get a proper rest.”

Celtic assistant boss John Collins said: “This is never an easy place to come. We scored a wonderful goal but we didn’t capitalise on our momentum.”
