It was a really good weekend for St Johnstone.
The club announced a profit of £98,577 in their annual accounts and then secured a deserved point in their away game against Aberdeen.
The Perth team kept up their good Pittodrie record with a 0-0 draw, manager Tommy Wright stating: “We probably just edged it.
“We had the best chances. We definitely created more clear-cut openings and I’m really pleased we got a point.
“We finished strongly, we didn’t sit back, we went for it.
“We’re slightly disappointed it wasn’t all three points because we had the better chances.
“David Wotherspoon’s free-kick was unfortunate not to go in.
“It was pushed onto a post by their keeper but at least we didn’t concede a late goal, like what happened in our League Cup loss here earlier in the season.
“It was a really good performance both individually and collectively. Tactically we were spot-on, and Aberdeen had to change their shape.
“We’ve been to Ibrox now and probably should have won, been to Hearts and should have won, and been up to Aberdeen and should have won.”
Dons boss Derek McInnes said: “You have to credit St Johnstone. They denied us space and worked hard to keep us away from goal. St Johnstone played well today.
“They had a good game plan and carried a threat on the counter attack”.
Saints went into the game minus the injured Paul Paton and Danny Swanson. However, Keith Watson, injured for a fair bit of time since his summer move, was an unused sub.
