St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright knows from experience that a bad start can be turned into a good season.
So the Perth boss isn’t reading too much into bottom of the table Inverness Caledonian Thistle’s pointless opening to the Premiership season ahead of Saints’ weekend trip to the Highlands.
“It has been a hard start in the league for Inverness but only a few weeks ago people were talking them up on the back of their Betfred Cup form,” Wright said.
“That can happen in this league, it’s very tight and it’s hard to pick up points.
“We have been in the position they’re in before, we’ve gone four, five, six matches at the start of the season without a win.
“I remember one year when Steve (Lomas) was in charge and we hadn’t won a game.
“We were 1-0 down against Celtic at half-time, managed to win 2-1 and that kick-started the whole season for us.
“You just have to keep working hard, keep doing what you’re doing and it will turn for you.”
He added: “Inverness still have the core of experienced players they have had for the last few seasons so they won’t be panicking.
“They will know things will turn in their favour, just like we know that if we’re not at our best up there we won’t get anything.
“Inverness is always a tough place to go and that’s exactly what it will be this weekend.”
