St Johnstone suffered an unexpected defeat to Kilmarnock on a frustrating afternoon at McDiarmid Park.
Kilmarnock hadn’t won in six games but Scott Boyd’s second half goal was enough to take three points back to Ayrshire.
Saints will feel the result was a harsh one as away keeper Jamie MacDonald twice denied them in the first half with excellent stops from Liam Craig and Blair Alston.
Also, Steven MacLean thought he had put Saints ahead just before the break, but his strike was ruled out for offside.
The winning goal came on 76 minutes when Boyd bundled home a corner.
Saints had 12 shots to Killie’s four and nine corners to one, but it wasn’t to be their day and they couldn’t find a way past MacDonald.
The result leaves Saints in fifth place in the Premiership.
