St Johnstone have confirmed that homesick loan striker Joe Gormley wants out of full-time football.
As revealed in Courier Sport, the Northern Irishman is now back across the water and doesn’t want to play again for either Saints or his parent club Peterborough United.
He will need special dispensation from Fifa to be allowed to sign for another side this season, however, as he has already played for two teams.
That is something the Perth club hope to help Gormley do.
A statement read: “Saints, Peterborough United and the player are working together and have submitted a case to Fifa in an attempt to cancel the current international loan agreement due to exceptional circumstances and await the outcome.
Saints manager Tommy Wright added: “The important thing here is Joe’s well-being and it is clear he does not wish to continue playing full-time football.
“Having already turned out for Peterborough United and ourselves that is not an option this season in any case.
“It’s always been our aim to do what’s best for the player and that’s what we are attempting to do.”
