St Johnstone proved that they can thrive without Danny Swanson, according to David Wotherspoon, as the Perth men claimed another excellent away point in the Premiership.
Saints held Aberdeen to a 0-0 draw at Pittodrie and had several good chances to win the contest.
And Wotherspoon – who struck the woodwork in the dying minutes – believes that the famous Perth team ethic came to the fore again without this season’s talisman on the pitch.
He said: “The gaffer had to make an enforced change with Danny Swanson injured during the week, but the boys adapted really well.
“Danny has been a match-winner for us popping up all the time with goals and excellent performances.
“But we can cope without him and we created chances.”
Wright hopes to have his playmaker – who was left out with a thigh strain – back for Saturday’s game against Motherwell.
“Danny’s an important member of the team but we don’t put him on a pedestal,” he said.
“You can’t rely on one player.
“We’ve managed to cope without him previously and we’ll continue to do that.
“There’s every chance he’ll be fit for next week.”
