The St Johnstone record away from home this season is a fantastic one.
That is not breaking news.
The 13 points they have won on the road is better than Rangers, better than Hearts and equal Aberdeen’s total.
Only Celtic can point to more impressive statistics.
One game has been lost – and that was in the dying seconds up at Inverness back in August.
At the core of this success is the execution of a game-plan. And on that front, Saturday was a nine out of 10.
No team will limit Aberdeen to as few chances as Saints did.
To see two of the Dons’ game-changers, Niall McGinn and Peter Pawlett, brought off at half-time was confirmation of the job that Saints had done in frustrating the hosts.
And it didn’t change after the break. Actually, it did. It got better. Saints grew more confident and an out-of-ideas Aberdeen were the ones glad to finish up with a point in the end.
Nil-nil draws don’t create big headlines, but you could make a case for Saturday’s draw at Pittodrie being the most accomplished of all the away performances St Johnstone have produced this season.
