St Johnstone captain Steven Anderson is back to his best, according to Perth boss Tommy Wright.
The Scottish Cup final hero was part of a back-line that was leaking goals a few weeks ago, with the low-point being the four headers conceded to Ross County.
Since that defeat, however, Zander Clark hasn’t had a ball to pick out of his net and Anderson has been back to his old self.
“We have had back to back shut-outs,” Wright said.
“In the last couple of games Ando has been back doing what he does best.
“He wasn’t happy with a couple of his recent performances but he is superb at defending and putting his body on the line for the team.
“We have seen that against Inverness and Aberdeen in games where we have posted clean sheets.”
Equally impressive in the Caley Thistle and Aberdeen games has been Anderson’s fellow centre-back Joe Shaughnessy.
A new contract beyond the summer has yet to be agreed with the Irishman and Wright is hoping that will be sorted out in the near future.
“I am really pleased with Ando and his partnership with Joe is back to what I expected,” Wright said.
“It has been maturing and it is a partnership I want to hold on.
“That’s why I’m encouraging the club to get Joe signed up again, along with a few others.
“It’s that time of year again when we have to press on with the process because we have several players here we certainly don’t want to lose.”
