Hearts’ January spending spree has given them the upper hand in the battle to finish fourth, according to St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright.
But the Perth boss is content with the alternative approach Saints have taken to the transfer window.
Wright, whose team will go above Hearts this evening if they get a better result against Partick Thistle than Ian Cathro’s men can manage against Rangers, said: “Hearts have showed their intent by signing so many players.
“They are paying money for people so that tells you they’re having a right go at it for the second half of the season.
“They have a new manager and they are backing him in this window.
“So you’d have to say the advantage is with them.
“Fourth place could be Europe again this season, depending on what happens in the Scottish Cup, but with the spending power Hearts have then you’d have to say the advantage is with them.
“We have a different approach. Our focus has been on keeping the players we’ve got here.
“Every club is different. The January window is a difficult one to work in because of a number of reasons.
“It’s a short amount of time to get players to bed in. I have confidence in the players we have here.”
