Remi Matthews had big gloves to fill at St Johnstone after taking over from club legend Zander Clark between the McDiarmid Park posts.
And manager Callum Davidson believes the on-loan Crystal Palace goalkeeper has proved himself to be a worthy successor to the double-winning hero, now with Hearts.
“The fact that people aren’t talking about Zander says everything,” said the Perth boss.
“Zander was great for us and Remi has been outstanding since he came in as well.
“He’s been consistently at a high level.
Excellent again between the sticks Remi. Great 3 points👏💙

“He’s got presence and experience and now he’s got the confidence you get from playing games.
“I’ve been delighted with him and long may that continue.
“I believe I’ve got a top goalie here.
“There were a few options but I wanted to wait to make sure I got the right one.
“He needs to sustain this form for the rest of the season. I’m confident he will.”
No Palace recall fear
Saints fans shouldn’t have any fear that Matthews will be recalled to Selhurst Park in January, according to Davidson.
“I don’t see any issues (with Palace) as far as keeping him for the full season is concerned,” he said.
“And touch wood, that I won’t be looking for another keeper in January.”
