The Canadian international team are keeping in touch with St Johnstone to monitor David Wotherspoon’s comeback.
And Callum Davidson is hoping that is a “good sign” for the Saints star’s World Cup hopes.
The three-time cup winner made his comeback against Livingston recently, getting around 10 minutes of action on that occasion.
And his half-hour contribution to the Perth side’s comeback victory over Hibernian last Friday night was an even more significant step forward.
Wotherspoon hasn’t got many games left before Canada head coach John Herdman announces his squad for Qatar and the 32-year-old will be seeking to further enhance his cause by performing well against Kilmarnock on Saturday.
I’ve missed that feeling.. what a win in front of a great away support last night and being back out there with the lads again! https://t.co/URAq8vcK6Q

“It’s great to have him back involved,” said Davidson. ”He’s already showing his composure and class.
“Hopefully with more game-time the Canadian manager will want to select him for the World Cup.
“The Canadian staff keep in touch with our medical team and David himself.
“They’ve been really good that way.
“It’s great for him to know they’re keeping an eye on how he’s doing.
“It’s a good sign.”
Learning Easter Road lessons
Meanwhile, Davidson wants to see his players pick up where they left off at Easter Road as they seek to balance the scales against Kilmarnock, who they lost to at Rugby Park earlier this month.
“There was a lot that improved from the first half against Hibs to the second half,” he said.
“It goes to show that when you pass the ball well and do the right things, you create chances and score goals.
“We need to do that again against Kilmarnock.
“We want to get ourselves in the final third as quickly as possible.
“I keep repeating myself but we’ve put two good crosses into the box on Friday night and scored off both of them.

“I want us being positive, taking chances and having shots. I don’t mind us making mistakes if we’re trying things higher up the pitch.
“Graham (Carey) coming back helps us. He sees things that a lot of players don’t and can open things up from deeper than a lot of players as well.
“He was really coming into form before his injury and hopefully we can get him back to that level as quickly as possible.
“It’s our home game and we’ve got to ask questions of a good Kilmarnock team and make it a tough afternoon.”
