Callum Davidson is hopeful St Johnstone star David Wotherspoon has done enough to secure a World Cup place with Canada.
Five games unbeaten is a decent way for the McDiarmid Park side to head into the break.
But Davidson is optimistic that Wotherspoon will be in Qatar rather than taking a couple of weeks off.
“David has now started a couple of games,” said the Saints boss.
“Let’s hope he gets into the Canada squad. It would be a massive boost for him and his family obviously and also for the club.
“It was great to see him doing what he does best.
“We’re pretty hopeful.
“We’ve had a lot of positive feedback. If he’s not in we’ll be bitterly disappointed.
“He’s been in every squad when he’s been fit and you saw today he’s ready to go.
“I was wary of not chucking him in too early. His quality, movement and fitness levels are there.”
‘Good place to be’
Meanwhile, Davidson was content with a point, albeit frustrated at the way in which Saints conceded the equaliser.
“I was pleased with how we played in the first half and we scored a really good (Drey Wright) goal,” he said.
“With a minute to go we took a quick free-kick. We didn’t play the ball down the line and from the resultant interception we have away a free-kick and then it was a deflected goal.
“That was hard to take because we were quite comfortable.
“The second half was scrappy which led to chances for both teams.
“In the end we’ll take the point and move on.
“We’re two points from third and I’m delighted with that position after 16 games.
“Eleven points from the last 15 is even better.
“We’ve picked up results in different ways, with different characteristics being shown.
“It’s a really good place to be.”
