St Johnstone will attempt to tap into the spirit of 2021 as they seek to knock Rangers out of the Scottish Cup again, according to manager Callum Davidson.
The Perth side have been drawn to face the Glasgow giants in the fourth round of the competition they won two seasons ago.
The match will be played at McDiarmid Park on the weekend of January 21/22.
The famous penalty shoot-out triumph at Ibrox on the way to Saints’ historic cup double is still fresh in Davidson’s mind.
As is, of course, the recent league victory against Rangers.
So the hosts certainly won’t be short of inspiration.

“It’s always good to get a home draw,” said Davidson. “That’s a positive, right away.
“Rangers will provide extremely tough opposition and it’s up to us to rise to the challenge and be at our very best.
“The Scottish Cup is a tournament I care deeply about and always want to do well in it.
“We had the success of 2014 and in 2021.
Resilience and character
“Remember, we beat Rangers on penalties in 2021. We showed great resilience and character that night.
“We will require the same mindset again and we can also take confidence from our league victory a few weeks ago.”
Davidson added: “But, of course, this will be a totally new challenge and there is also a new manager at Rangers in Michael Beale.
“However, we will have a plan to win the tie as we want to go far in the Scottish Cup.
“Our supporters will look forward to this occasion and I’m sure McDiarmid will be full.
“Our supporters can play a vital role on the day, that’s for sure.
“It’s right up there as the tie of the round and we want it to be a memorable occasion for the right reasons.”
