Young defender Jason Kerr has signed a new two-year contract with St Johnstone.
The promising centre-back has enjoyed a successful loan spell with East Fife over the last couple of seasons and the Methil club are keen to have him back next term.
It could be that another loan, this time into the Championship, will be the next step for the 20-year-old.
Kerr said: “It’s great to have the next two years sorted and during that time it’s my intention to push myself into the manager’s plans at McDiarmid Park.
“I’ve really enjoyed my involvement with East Fife and it’s given me loads of experience but I’m ready to step up now and whether that’s another loan club further up the leagues or with Saints, I’ll just need to wait and see.”
Perth boss Tommy Wright said: “Jason has quietly gone about his business at East Fife but impressed many people and he’s got a lot of first team football under his belt.
“Along with players like Liam Gordon, Aaron Comrie and Ally Gilchrist we have a lot of young talented defenders coming through and we will continue to map out a plan for each of them that benefits both them and the club.”
