The return of former St Johnstone striker Stevie May to Scotland is in doubt.
Aberdeen are expected to lodge a £250,000 bid for the Preston North End man but it is now understood their manager Simon Grayson wants to see May in pre-season friendly action before deciding if he wants to keep him or cash in.
May only returned from a career-threatening knee injury at the end of last season.
Dons boss Derek McInnes knows the Scotland international well from their time together at Saints, where he gave May his senior debut.
Aberdeen are also said to be keen on former Dundee hero Greg Stewart. They would seek to bring him north from Birmingham on loan.
