Young St Johnstone defender Ally Gilchrist has signed for Shamrock Rovers.
The centre-back played in both legs of Saints’ Europa League qualifier against FK Trakai but wasn’t able to hold down a first team place at McDiarmid Park.
Gilchrist said: “I was at St Johnstone for a while and I developed a lot.
“I had good coaches around me. Callum Davidson taught me a lot and passed on a lot of experience to me as an ex-defender. But I wasn’t getting much game time. I definitely need a fresh start.
“It was a great experience to play in the Europa League games but it was just a shame I couldn’t play more.”
