Former Ross County wide-man Jonathan Franks is on trial with St Johnstone.
The 27-year-old is a free agent, with his two years in Dingwall under Jim McIntyre sandwiched between spells at Hartlepool.
Franks has scored six goals this season and been a first team regular with the non-league club but they are on the verge of administration and his deal ran out recently.
Wright is keen to strengthen his squad in the last week of the transfer window and the Middlesbrough youth product has been given the chance to impress.
“On the ins and outs we are still working hard to get something done,” said the Perth boss.
“We have four or five irons in the fire and they won’t all happen. But it is a waiting game at the moment.
“We have Jonathan Franks in training for a couple of days. We are having a close look at him.”
