St Johnstone have confirmed their first deadline day signing – Fulham’s George Williams.
The Welsh international, a wide midfielder, has agreed a loan deal through to the end of the season.
Manager Tommy Wright said: “George is a player I’ve known for some time, a player who’s played at the highest level for Wales, so I’m delighted to get him on board to help him get back to playing regular football, and back to the level that got him seven international caps.
“He is an exciting player and has an eye for goal.
“The deal was agreed a couple of days ago and George will travel up early next week. He has a slight injury which he picked up in training yesterday and it will be into next week before he returns to full training.”
It is unlikely to be the last bit of business the Perth club conclude today, with Manchester United midfielder Matthew Willock also expected to arrive on loan.
Scott Wright of Aberdeen, Kilmarnock’s Rory McKenzie and, according to reports in England, Derby County’s Luke Thomas, are other targets of Wright.
