St Johnstone want to give their fans another Dens Park highlight

St Johnstone ended their Dens Park hoodoo in stunning fashion a few weeks ago.

And Liam Craig is determined that the Perth men will give their supporters another season highlight on their return to Dundee at the weekend.

“Dundee know how serious it is in terms of getting the win,” said the Saints midfielder ahead of Saturday’s last Tayside derby of the campaign.

“I don’t know if they will talk too much about the previous game. As far as we are concerned that is done and dusted. We just want to finish the season as strongly as we can.

“We thought we were going to get Dundee at home. It hasn’t panned out that way. But too many times in recent seasons we have not been good enough there.

“So we have to match the standards of the last derby and give the fans another result to be happy about.

“After everything that went on the last time I think we may have even more supporters at Dens for this one.”

Craig added:  “It has been a tough season with injuries and the squad has been stretched at times.

“We only just missed out on the top six but are in a healthy enough position with five games to go.

“In a lot of the games we have lost it hasn’t been down to the injury crisis, it’s been about self-inflicted wounds.

“On a positive note a lot more young players have been brought into the squad to help deal with the injuries. In the longer term the club will benefit from that.

“The 4-0 win at Dens was a highlight of the season, especially for the fans. But wins over Hibs and Rangers and two draws away to Celtic are also up there. There have been a lot of positives.

“We needed that win against Dundee. The timing was good for us. But whenever questions have been asked of us over the past seven or eight seasons we have answered them.

“It was the same that day.

“Now we want to finish strongly. Can we go and win five games?

“Two seasons ago in the top six we won four and drew one. It would be nice to finish like that.”
