After ending his St Johnstone career on the highest of highs, departing striker Steven MacLean expressed his wish that David McMillan goes on to enjoy even more success with the Perth club than he has.
After scoring the Scottish Cup hero scored hat-trick at Fir Park, there was a passing of the baton to the Irishman, who also found the back of the net in only his second appearance for Saints since arriving in January.
“Hopefully he’s going to be a great signing for St Johnstone,” said MacLean, who won’t feature in the last two games of the campaign.
“He looks decent. He’s not properly fit yet but he certainly took his goal well. It will be a big pre-season for him.
“I spoke to him after the game. That’s his first goal for the club and hopefully he takes off, goes on to have a great career here and do better than me for St Johnstone.”
