Andrew Driver will this week join up with St Johnstone for a trial, Courier Sport can reveal.
Perth boss Tommy Wright is stepping up his efforts to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season, with Drey Wright his only signing so far.
Driver, whose career has taken him from Hearts to Houston, last played for De Graafschap in the Netherlands.
The 30-year-old Englishman made his name as a left-winger at Tynecastle but has recently also played at left-back.
With no immediate sign of a Brian Easton comeback – and the need for another option further up the pitch on the left side – Driver could prove to be an attractive option for Wright.
Saints’ last pre-season game is at Berwick tomorrow and Driver could get his chance to impress in the Borders.
