St Johnstone made it back to back Premiership wins without having to be at their best in Lanarkshire.
The Perth men did the damage in a clinical eight minute spell at the end of the first half.
Goals from Blair Alston and David McMillan put the visitors in a strong half-time position.
They were in control after the break as well when they switched off at the back and allowed Rakish Bingham to drill home a low shot on 69 minutes.
Chris Kane was a late sub and he should have made it 3-1 when Hamilton keeper Gary Woods was stranded at the edge of the box and the goal was empty. He rushed his effort though, and it went wide.
Saints saw the game through comfortably in the end and their one goal lead proved to be enough.
With three signings made before the transfer window, it has been a very good week for Tommy Wright’s team who are already looking like top six contenders.
