St Johnstone have moved swiftly to tie in-demand defender Jason Kerr to a new, improved deal.
The 21-year-old has signed a contract that will keep him at McDiarmid Park until May 2022.
As recently as last weekend, Saints knocked back a low six-figure offer for the player made by English League One side Barnsley.
A Saints statement confirmed: “The club is delighted to announce that 21-year-old defender Jason Kerr has agreed a new contract keeping him at the club until May 2022.
“Jason broke into the Saints’ first team in January 2018 making his debut in the Scottish Cup victory over Albion Rovers.
“Before that the highly rated centre-back had just returned from a successful loan spell at Queen of the South and had also spent two seasons on-loan at East Fife helping them to the Scottish League Two title back in 2015/16.
“The Scotland U21 international has been ever present for Saints in the league this season and has committed himself to the club for the next three-and-a-half years.”
