Zander Clark will be back playing for St Johnstone in weeks rather than months, the Perth club have confirmed.
A scan has revealed damage to the keeper’s hamstring but it didn’t show up a tear.
Perth boss Tommy Wright reported: “Fortunately it seems the injury isn’t as bad as we first feared.
“The scan has shown some damage but importantly there is no tear to Zander’s tendon.
“The hamstring and tendon are stretched but the fact that there is no tear there means we can hopefully have Zander back to full fitness in a matter of weeks rather than months.”
There have been growing calls for Clark to be called up for Scotland but time would appear to be against him as far as the next squad is concerned. The double-header against Kazakhstan and San Marino is only a month away.
