St Johnstone manager Tommy Wright is keen to tie down young midfielders Ali McCann and Kyle McClean on new contracts, with both impressing on loan.
McClean has been part of a title-winning Linfield side, while McCann has helped Stranraer survive in League One.
And Wright, who has seen the likes of Jason Kerr and Zander Clark become Saints first team regulars on the back of successful loans spells, can see a future for the pair of them at McDiarmid Park.
“Ali and Kyle have done great out on loan and they are two we hope to have around next season,” he said.
“We have started talks with them both.
“Kyle played in the final and ended up with a League Cup winner’s medal and a league championship medal with Linfield.
“We have always said the best pathway to the first team here is for young players to go out on loan.”
Meanwhile, Wright is delighted with the form of one of his current first team midfielders, Ross Callachan.
The former Hearts and Raith Rovers man has started the last three games and will make that four in a row against St Mirren on Saturday.
“Ross has had to be patient but he deserves a run and he is creating a good partnership with Liam Craig,” he said.
“He is full of energy and has decent ability on the ball. He has done well and should be looking to kick on.”
