St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright has made the ‘tough decision’ to release midfielder Blair Alston.
The 27-year-old, who joined Saints in 2016 from Falkirk, made 26 appearances for the Perth side this season.
Injuries curtailed his involvement for St Johnstone this term but he had been on the radar of Hamilton as well as Dundee before Jim McIntyre was sacked.
Wright said: “This has been a tough decision and I’d like to thank Blair for everything.
“I need a pathway for Kyle McClean and Ali McCann and that has been key to my thinking with regards to Blair.”
Alston will be fondly remembered by Saints fans for a memorable goal – his first for the club –against Rangers at Ibrox three years ago.
