St Johnstone have been dealt a fresh injury blow, with midfielder David Wotherspoon ruled out of action for around a month.
The former Hibs man was taken off at half-time on Sunday and has got a knee ligament problem.
Manager Tommy Wright reported: “Unfortunately David Wotherspoon picked up a knee injury when he was landed on clumsily in the first half by a Ross County player and has damaged knee ligaments.
“He’ll be out for four to six weeks which is disappointing.”
Matty Kennedy will start tonight’s Betfred Cup clash with Brechin City to build up his match fitness after getting 45 against County, and there was other positive news.
“Drey (Wright) has started his full pre-season programme,” said Wright.
“He’s making good progress and so is Liam Gordon.
“Hopefully we don’t get any more injuries going into the start of the league campaign.”
