Blairgowrie’s Bradley Neil produced his best performance in a competitive tournament so far in finishing tied for second in the Prague Golf Challenge in the Czech Republic.
Bradley (21) finished first at Stage One of the Tour’s Qualifying School last year but this was his best placing in an actual ranking tournament, a final round 68 seeing him tied with France’s Julien Guerrier, five shots behind England’s Garricj Porteous.
Coincidentally, all three players are former Amateur champions – Guerrier winning the title in 2006, Porteous in 2013 and Bradley when just 18 at Royal Portrush in 2018.
Bradley continued the strong form he showed in the final round at the SSE Scottish Hydro Challenge at Aviemore when a second round of 67 meant he tantalisingly missed the cut by only a shot.
Choosing to miss last week’s Open Championship Final Qualifying event at Gailes Links to concentrate on his trip to the Czech Republic, he had two rounds of 66 but couldn’t catch Porteous, who took his first Challenge Tour title.
It’s Neil’s best performance so far on his two years on the European Tour’s junior circuit, and his cheque for just short of £13,000 moves him up to 29th place on the Road to Oman rankings.
The top 15 places in the R2O secure full European Tour cards for next season.
