Dundee Rugby, the new club formed from a merger of two leading city clubs’ junior sections, stormed to handsome victories in their first competitive games at the weekend.
The secondary school age teams of Dundee Eagles and Morgan Wasps have merged to form a new team aimed at keeping the best of all talent from the city playing competitive rugby within the city, with Dundee High director of rugby Colin Sangster and city rugby development officer Josh Gabriel-Clarke taking the lead.
Both clubs will continue to run their own primary age teams, but the inaugural matches of the secondary clubs under the Dundee Rugby banner began in impressive fashion at Alloway Terrace.
A combined Under 15/16 team took on Montrose and ran out comfortable 43-0 winners, while an S1/S2 combined team also beat the visitors from the Angus coast with seven tries in a 26-0 win, tries counting for just three points at this level.
The teams continue the new season with away matches at Kirkcaldy next week.
