Cliff Parisi said he signed up for I’m A Celebrity because of the taxman, as he was evicted from the jungle camp.
The actor was booted out during Monday night’s instalment of the ITV show.
He was the third person to leave, following Adele Roberts and Andrew Maxwell.
When hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly asked why he had signed up, he said: “Taxman.”
But Parisi said he had loved the experience and met some great people.
“It’s an amazing experience,” he said. “Unless you’ve done it, you’ve got no idea.”
The actor was one of the latecomers into camp and admitted he did feel “isolated” at first. He joked that he felt “as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit”.
But he said when he realised there were some contestants “fighting for the limelight” he decided it would be more fun to sit back and watch.
The Call The Midwife actor, who was exempt from certain trials for medical reasons, told the presenters he had been suffering from slipped discs.
Monday’s episode also saw Nadine Coyle face the Movile Home Bushtucker Trial, in which she had to rummage through a mobile home filled with slime and critters to retrieve stars for camp.
The singer managed to get all 10, and Donnelly told her: “You made that look very easy.”
“Did I? You’re very kind,” she added.
Later, Coyle and Jacqueline Jossa admitted having taken a shine to the show’s hosts.
Jossa said in the Bush Telegraph: “Ant and Dec are a bit of all right actually, they are funny, they smell good and as they get older, they look even better. I don’t know if they are having work done but they are getting better looking and potentially looking younger.”
Emotions ran high as the campers talked about who had inspired or influenced them in their lives.
Caitlyn Jenner became tearful as she talked about a track coach who had a big influence on her life, and Ian Wright remembered a teacher who had steered him on the right path.
Coyle told how music mogul Louis Walsh made her try out for Girls Aloud, telling her he would not speak to her again if she did not.
“I went and it all worked out well, I wouldn’t have gone to the audition if it wasn’t for him,” she said.
“I wouldn’t have been in Girls Aloud and then swallowing cockroaches.”
I’m A Celebrity continues on ITV.
