Comedian Chris Ramsey will bring his “South Shields charm” to Little Mix’s new talent show as its presenter.
The former X Factor winners’ new BBC One programme will see them create bands and become mentors to a new wave of talent.
Ramsey, who made it to the semi-finals of Strictly Come Dancing last year, said: “Since the moment I heard their first single, I knew I wanted to be the fifth member of Little Mix… sadly it looks like I’m going to have to settle for just hosting their new show with them!”
The stand-up, who is from the North East of England, will join fellow Geordies Perrie Edwards and Jade Thirlwall, as well as Jesy Nelson and Leigh-Anne Pinnock for the live shows.
Little Mix said: “We’re so happy Chris has come on board to present The Search.
“He’s genuinely one of the funniest people we know and he’ll bring loads of his South Shields charm to the show. We can’t wait.”
The programme, called Little Mix: The Search, will see Edwards, Thirlwall, Nelson and Pinnock use their expertise to guide the hopefuls who make it into new bands.
Ramsey, 33, previously co-hosted the spin off-show for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2016, and he also hosted E4 comedy panel show Virtually Famous and stand-up comedy show Stand Up Central on Comedy Central.
He currently hosts a popular podcast with his wife Rosie called Shagged Married Annoyed, which recently won the best podcast prize at the Global Awards.
The couple have recently announced they will take their podcast on tour across the UK, with dates at venues including London’s Wembley Arena, the Manchester Opera House and the Utilita Arena in Newcastle.
Little Mix The Search starts on BBC One in the spring.
