Vernon Kay has been announced as the host of new ITV series Game Of Talents.
The series will see contestants try to uncover the secret talents of the public for a chance to win a cash prize.
In each episode contestants will pair with a celebrity and they will try to guess the hidden talent of eight mystery performers based on “appearance” and “intriguing clues”.
Kay said: “We’re lining up some amazing performers whose skills are both jaw-droppingly brilliant and at times surreal. I can’t wait for viewers to play along at home and try to guess who has which hidden talent. Prepare to be shocked and amazed in equal measure.”
The format, which was devised by production company Fremantle, was first launched in Spain, where it is now entering its third season.
It will be produced by Thames, which also makes Britain’s Got Talent and The Greatest Dancer, in the UK.
Katie Rawcliffe, head of entertainment commissioning for ITV, said: “Vernon is the perfect host for this high-octane show which combines the massive scale of a talent show with all the guessing of a gameshow. I can’t wait to see it!”
Amelia Brown, managing director of Thames, said: “Vernon is the ideal host to bring lots of fun to Game of Talents. Families at home will be on the edge of their seats as they play along with him.”
Kay, 46, competed in I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! at the end of last year and finished third.
He rose to fame presenting Channel 4’s weekend magazine show T4, and has hosted shows including All Star Family Fortunes, Beat The Star, Let’s Get Gold and 1000 Heartbeats.
He is married to Strictly Come Dancing presenter Tess Daly.
The seven hour-long episodes of Game Of Talents are due to air on ITV this year.
