Claire Foy has said she will share her supporting actress Bafta nomination with the woman she portrayed in First Man, Janet Armstrong, and her family.
The Damien Chazelle-directed film is based on the life story of Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon, and sees Ryan Gosling playing the astronaut and Foy as his first wife.
Janet died in June last year at the age of 84, but Foy had spent time learning as much as she could to prepare for the role, speaking to her via Skype.

In a statement to the Press Association, Foy said: “I am so honoured to have been nominated in this category alongside women whose work I have watched and admired for so long.
“Thank you so much to Bafta and the members for this nomination.
“I am so proud to have been part of Damien’s extraordinary film and I share this with all the incredible cast and crew.”
She added: “I especially share this nomination with Janet and the Armstrong family, without their remarkable story and constant support during shooting, this film could not have been made. See you in London!”
Foy, best known for her role as Queen Elizabeth II in Netflix drama The Crown, will compete against Emma Stone and Rachel Weisz (The Favourite), Amy Adams (Vice) and Margot Robbie (Mary, Queen Of Scots), for the supporting actress accolade.
First Man received seven nominations in total, including for adapted screenplay, cinematography, editing and special visual effects.
