Most fans had to wait a generation for Dundee United to sample Scottish Cup success, but for Perth tot Riley Goodfellow it took just 17 weeks.
The baby was among the near-30,000 decked out in tangerine at Hampden as the Terrors won Scotland’s oldest cup competition.
Riley was not even born when United set off on the road to glory with a hard-fought victory over Partick Thistle on a freezing cold day in January.
However he timed his arrival in the world to perfection visiting Hampden for both the semi-final triumph over Raith Rovers and the defeat of Ross County on Saturday.
Despite the frenetic atmosphere during the final, Riley was serene throughout and even managed 40 winks during the first half.
Nevertheless, he was wide awake and in his jubilant grandad Kevin’s arms when Craig Conway sealed a momentous victory.
After two days of exhausting celebration which included a trip to Dundee city centre to toast the players on Sunday Riley is now relaxing at home with his brother Logan (2).
Mum Nadine Fearne, now 29, was just 13 when the Tangerines last won the cup.
Having waited over half her life for United to repeat the trick, she firmly believes that Riley is a good luck charm.
Nadine joked, “Who knows what United could achieve next season with Riley in the stands maybe they will win the league.
“I am not sure he realises just how fortunate he is.”
With an epic cup run already under his belt, Nadine believes Riley is “an Arab for life.”
She said, “He must have been the youngest supporter at Hampden and he certainly has a tale to tell his friends when he gets older.
“The semi-final win was also Logan’s first game so they both boast an incredible 100% record long may it continue.”
