The Prince of Wales interrupted a “confrontation scene” between Daniel Craig and Ralph Fiennes during a visit to the set of Bond 25.
He joined the pair and director Cary Fukunaga in the office of MI6 boss M at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire on Thursday.
Charles laughed as Fiennes, who plays M, explained they had been filming a scene in which his character gives Bond a “good dressing down”.
After Charles left the room, Fukunaga turned to Craig and Fiennes, telling them: “Right, back to work. Not distracting at all!”
He appeared as the patron of the British Film Institute (BFI) and royal patron of the intelligence services.
On arrival, Charles was met by executive producer Barbara Broccoli, chairman of Pinewood Studios Paul Golding and the BFI’s chief executive Amanda Nevill.
Craig also greeted him, showing him two Aston Martins, a DB5 and a V8, custom-made for the film before the pair posed for pictures.
Speaking to reporters, he quipped: “The cars are the interesting thing here. Much more interesting than me.”
Charles also referenced a recent on-set mishap which saw an explosion damage part of the 007 stage, leaving a crew member with “minor injuries”.
He asked one set worker: “Has it been slightly delayed?” to which the man replied, “Slightly, yes.”
Charles then asked: “You haven’t had any more things blowing up recently?” before the man jokingly said: “No, not yet.”
Naomie Harris, who plays Eve Moneypenny, also gave Charles a sneak peak at footage from the film.
After his departure Broccoli told the Press Association that the royal family and Bond were “two great British traditions”.
She said: “This is our 25th film in the series. It’s almost 60 years making Bond films in Britain – a British tradition, two great British traditions.
“The Prince of Wales has been here in the past yes, so we are just very happy he is back.
On the upcoming film, she added: “It’s fantastic. We are so excited. We have a terrific film in store.”

Charles sported a colourful tie decorated with speed boats and palm trees, a possible nod to the Jamaican setting of Bond 25.
Broccoli said she thought Charles had worn the tie to mark the occasion.
“I don’t think anything is a mistake when it comes to His Royal Highness,” she said.
Co-producer Michael G Wilson added: “I think he enjoyed meeting the interns we have and he enjoyed the Aston Martins, and meeting the whole crew including Daniel.”
Charles spoke to 16 trainees, some of whom came from the BFI Film Academy and the London Film School.
Trainee Sara, 20, said she felt less starstruck after a month at Pinewood Studios.
She told the Press Association: “When Daniel Craig first walked past me admittedly on the inside I was like ‘oh this is my job now’. But now you smile at each other, you walk past, you do your job.
“I think the novelty of what you are working on does not wear off. Every day you walk on set, or in to Pinewood Studios, and you do appreciate every moment of it.”
Fukunaga is directing the film, replacing Danny Boyle, who stepped away from the project last year following “creative differences”.
The 25th Bond instalment will be Craig’s fifth outing as 007.
Oscar winner Rami Malek, Captain Marvel star Lashana Lynch and Game Night actor Billy Magnussen are joining the cast.
