A Blairgowrie motor enthusiast has restored a classic car which he will drive more than 800 miles to take part in a rally featuring Sir Stirling Moss.
Donald Blair (82) a well-known name associated with Honda cars in Tayside has restored a 1967 Honda S800 Mark I and will take part in the Ennstal-Classic in Alpine Austria from July 13-16, with daughter Susanne as co-driver.
Only cars built before 1972 are eligible to take part and no electronic devices are allowed.
Elizabeth Blair-Smart, sister of Donald, said her brother is looking forward to the event.
“Over 200 cars participate and up to 53 different car brands are represented every year, some very special cars with a very special history, and some very special people driving them,” she said.
“Donnie and Susanne are up against some seriously stiff competition with Sir Stirling Moss in the line-up.”
She continued, “Donald has rebuilt the car over 10 years from a very neglected state and hopes to be if not first past the post at least to be the furthest-travelled car taking part in rally.
“The driver is twice the age of the car so hopefully neither will need too much maintenance on the way!”
